It looks like a rescent, animal&#39;s tooth or fetus. There is a hole and some carved line on the head part.<br />

This is a comma-shaped bead made from dark green jade. Such crescent moon-shaped beads, referred to as<em> gogok</em>, were used to decorate golden crowns, clothing, and belts. This example, which was attached to other ornaments via the hole in its head, is typical of comma-shaped beads of the Three Kingdoms period. Three parallel lines are incised across the hole, from which four more incised lines radiate upwards.<br />

This standing female <em>nkisi mihasi</em>, or “benevolent” power figure, exhibits many of the typical traits associated with the Luba of the Upemba Basin, and more specifically, with the Kisale center of production. These features include a disproportionately elongated torso, terraced coiffure, diamond-shaped scarification patterns covering the abdomen and back, and, a crescent moon symbol on the pubis. In addition, this figure possesses a round head with almond-shaped eyes, an open mouth, flat and level shoulders, protruding breasts and bellybutton, and horizontal lines across its upper thighs. Multiple strands of white, dark blue, and light blue beads adorn the figure’s neck, upper chest, wrist, hips, and ankle. A cotton loincloth has been wrapped around the figure’s hips.

This woodcarved figure exhibits elaborate diamond-shaped scarifications throughout the torso and crescent-shaped ones across the pubis; a disproportionately long trunk; and, protruding breasts and umbilicus. With semi-spherical feet, the figure stands with knees slightly bent. Her round head features an angular face; a large, concave forehead; coffeebean-shaped eyes; a triangular nose; a small mouth; and a coiffure styled in cascading tiers. The elbows are bent such that her fingers rest atop the shoulders, adjacent to the breasts.

A woman dressed in a rose-colored robe with a blue mantle and flowing white veil stands on a silver crescent moon among a bank of dark clouds.  A halo of stars encircles her head. She clasps both hands before her. The heads of two putti peak out from beneath her mantle next to her left hip. Her right foot treads upon a long serpent that curves back upon itself with an open mouth.

A wood box of semi-circular form, with a stylized form of a human face incised on the lid. The sides of the box, and around the face, are incised with geometric motifs, and two small holes are pierced in the lid and front of the box to fasten. The sides of the box are also covered with red powder.

Crescent shaped box with lid. Box contains various geometric patterns. The center of the lid is designed with three deeply carved lines. Covering the remainder of the lid, on both sides of the three lines, are diamond patterns formed by interlocking lines.

Centered on the page, this print shows two figures dressed in long robes. One figure wears a blue robe with maroon circles and the other is the opposite. Each faceless figure, carries a knife in one hand. On their heads are headdresses with a black cap and large white half-moon shape attached. The figures look like they are in motion.
